Life's Happenings

So I have taught two days now..... The first was Wednesday morning at a Sr. Highschool.....

So it was rainy, cold and wet. I got to the school 45 minutes early instead of the 20 minutes suggested and it was a good thing too. I checked in and photocopied the attendance lists for the three blocks I wouldbe teaching. I got my keys and folder and went to the room. First class grade 10 planning/CAPP.

Well the keys did not work, so I went back to the office and switched them. Get int he class, close and lock the door, BIG SIGH. I am here!

So I look for instructions, lesson plans, and see none - there are some handouts on a project so I assumed that was the lesson. 10 minutes before class I open the doors and as students file in I do the "teacher on Call" greetings and ask one friendly looking girl "So, how is this class?"

She gives me the dirt on the "noisy" part of the class room and a heads up on a student who always acts up - - SCORE! (It is like detective work before class starts)

So, I introduce myself and do the respect speech - let them knwo a few guidelines to staying on my good side and begin the lesson - - - easy, collect homework, handout project outline, review project, put them to work, the rest of the block was circulating and keeping them quiet and on task. Not too bad.

I ask another friendly student how to get to portable 1 - - two blocks of behavioural students.... uh oh!

ten or less students come in to do catch-up work or whatever. They have that block assigned as Resource Room so they can get extra help and whatnot - most claim they hav eno work and try to sweet talk you into internet time, going to teh weight room or just swear alot but actually are pretty cool kids otherwise.

I call them "misunderstood"

they saw the hole for my eyebrow ring (which i don't wear when i teach - a tad unprofessional) and thought iw as cool - we talked abotu peircings and pain and then we talked about music - it was ok.

Some were a tad unruly - but overall it went ok.... and then i was off - signed out, returned keys, wrote note to teacher and walked (in teh rain) and bussed to White Spot (mmmm) to have lunch with my two sisters, my new brother in law, my grandparents, my mom and my dad's uncle.

Then i went to the dr. they looked at my finger and i have to go to a specialist because i damaged my tendon - joy! I go end of October - we shall see - I am hoping I can be out of pain my mom insists i could lose complete function of my finger... *sigh* always the optimist my mom *rolls eyes*

then i went to Chapters and bought a TON of books for only $100!!!

AWESOME HUH?!?!

Then the day before I got two books at SFU bookstroe for school, both by Paley and I am currently reading Three to get Deadly by Janet Evanovich since i finished Frey's Million LIttle Pieces.

*sigh*

Then came Thursday

I taught a grade 4 class in the afternoon

In the morning I took my daughter to her two hour "school"

And while she was in class I read some of my books :) (Evanovich)

I went and saw my sister and brother-in-laws new place - - - very nice!!!

then i went to the school - i forgot how friendly elementary schools can be

I was with a grade 4 class. It was fun... we did silent reading, watched a Terry Fox video and then did some math (times tables by 10, 100, 1000) crazy eh?

then it was clean up and planners and the end... easy day - cute kids! I forgot how fun lil tykes can be!

There was an ADHD kid who cracked me up - - -I open the door to let them in after lunch and he is dumping water on another kid... I tell him it is inappropriate and he yells "I am ADHD I DO WAHT I WANT" ha ha - um.. NO!

So i talked with him and it was ok - during silent reading he started to act up - i asked if he acted this way with his regular teacher or just cuz i was there - he admited cuz i was there - i told him it was a good try but i knew all the tricks, even some he hadn't discovered yet because i used to try them on my sub.'s he laughed and we were buddies after taht!

anyhoo - today is a professional development day so i am chilling at home no work, gonna clean up a bit, spend time with my kiddo, and hopefully tonight do some halloween costume shopping - we shall see - Bonnie and I are going to go to the mall for sure - from there it is up in the air - -

then we are going for drinks at Cheers Night Club :) I def need it - lots going on in my stupid girl head.....

Larry says he is going to fly me down to Louisiana to see him next weekend - which means I wouldn't go see Forbidden aka Christine Dolce in Seattle. But I would get away for the weekend, and I would also get to see a state I have never been to but wanted to go to - - -

I am not sure if it will happen we shall see. His cousin is hilarious - wants me to bring him pot seeds LOL.

Wednesday night Larry called to tell me they were going for dinner at 9:30pm (odd most nights they are asleep or almost asleep at that time) and then at midnight i find out they are at a "tittie bar" - which is fine, except that he lied - - - but i guess people don't really ever change much do they?

I wonder if people can ever be truly 100% honest with other people? and I wonder how to trust anyone? Is it possible... I dunno... but i hate that i always doubt every word that come sout of almost anyones mouth because of how often I have been lied to about both little and big things.... *sigh*

Now i am upset because he hasnt called me all day and its almost 8pm there - - - granted he has no cell but it makes me mad - - - he is out drinking (says his cousin) oh well i am going shopping in a few and then out tonight and then tomorrow Jaime and I are going to Captains party on the island YIPEEEELast time I hung out with Mark he brought homemade blackberry pio and gave an awesome headache removing head rub! So I am uite psyched to go see him :) And Jaime RULES so it will be great to "go away" with her :) The ferry will be fun too its been a while since i was on the ferry! I used to go every weekend to Tofino!!!

Recent Life Events

I just read a friend's blog about her new career in Dease Lake and decided I should try to blog on here more and master the art of blogging, besides simple photo posting.

The most recent events in my life....

My Sisters Wedding, with my daughter a flower girl. It was beautiful! Not only did my sister look stunning, my daughter was equally amazing. It was great to see family and friends and the ceremony was beautiful!

After the ceremony, where my sister read a customized poem and her husband sang a song he wrote and composed, we had photos done and then the reception. Although photo time was stressful and time consuming the reception was a great relief. We had great food and drinks, dancing and lot's of fun.

The bride and groom are off on a mini-honeymoon with a trip to Hawaii coming in the new year. I can't believe my BABY sister is married!!!!!

Also this week my other sister was in town for the wedding and we got to hang out and go out a few nights. My friend's boyfriend is also in town for their anniversary so it was nice to see him also.....

They are so adorable!!!!!!! I met them both in Seattle, but Jaime is from here, was going to school there and he is from Eastern Wa. and is currently on a job in Montreal!! Crazy i know!!

Besides that - many may not know that my ex fiancee moved to Alabama... on his last night in Wa. (also his 32nd birthday) we went to our first ever Mariner's Game, it was a nice way to say good-bye. Besides the Mariner's 7-0 win (and a grand slam in the 8th) we enjoyed drinks with friends across the way at tiki bob's after. 'Twas an eventful evening and early morning.... and a sad good-bye at the airport, but it has been two weeks and he is doing really well. And the distance is definately helping both of us move on.

I am focusing on the pub crawl this October, my 26th bday celebration in October also and jsut enjoying time with my daughter until I get called into a sub. teaching job.... i had my first call last night but missed the call - since it is automated, if you miss the call, you miss the job :( Oh well, flu season is coming, yay! that means work for me!!!
